What is Rotary?
Rotary is a “Service Above Self” community-oriented
club. Paul Harris founded Rotary International in
February 1905 for business and professional leaders. The
Lewisburg Rotary Club was established in 1922. Today,
Rotary International has over 1.2 million members in
more than 30,000 clubs in 162 countries. Members are expected
to practice:
The Four-Way Test of the things we think, say or do:
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is if FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
Fundraisers
The Lewisburg Rotary Club participates in or hosts three
fundraisers annually. All members are present to carry
out assigned duties. These fundraisers are:
Early Fall - Miss/Little Miss Lewisburg Pageants
The pageants originated in
October 1993 and have become an annual event recognizing
a Little Miss winner from the Lewisburg K-2 age group.
The Miss Lewisburg winner is chosen from the freshman –
senior classes attending Marshall County High School.
This scholarship pageant uses essays, interviews, and
poise, as well as beauty, to determine the winner.
Mid Fall - Goats, Music
and More
In previous years, the
club has prepared and sold food (even goat meat) for the
festival. In 2007, the club will hold its inaugural BBQ
cooking contest at the Goats, Music and More festival.
We believe this will be a fun and successful fundraiser
for all involved.
February - Dinner and
Entertainment
This event has become a
special occasion for the Rotary members and guests.
Dinner and entertainment make the evening memorable.
How is the money spent?
All requests for funds are submitted in writing to the
budget committee and approved by the Board of Directors.
Based on the proceeds from the fundraisers, money is
allocated accordingly.
The following funds have been given in previous years:
Over $5000 in Annual
